. Sahar Fakhoury is an Asheville resident for the past 33 years. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Asheville, where she earned her BFA degree. She showed her art work in galleries in several states, as well as abroad. She participated in juried shows, group shows and solo shows.
Fakhoury works with oil paint, watercolor, mixed media and clay. Her recent works are inspired by people she encounters on the streets at home, or while traveling. Attracted by their body movements and expressions, she creates her own impressions in her compositions. The human figure, in motion, standing still or doing their daily chores, might get her attention. Other subjects of Fakhoury’s art work are still life and landscapes.
“My progression as an artist to contemporary realism evolved with my perception of the world and our human experiences in it. My work is based on my impressions of figures, objects, or places in a fraction of time and space. Through oil on canvas paintings or ceramic sculptures, I demonstrate the movement or stillness of the form to represent its existence in a particular space at a particular time.” Fakhoury says.
Fakhoury is a member The Portrait Society of America, Oil Painters of America, and Asheville Urban Landscape Project. You can see Fakhoury’s art at Asheville Gallery of art in downtown Asheville, and Trackside Studios, in the River Arts District, as well. Her work resides in private and corporate collections internationally, as well as in the United States.
